Do any good games actually work on the new iMac?

I have been looking to buy a computer game to play on my new iMac - only to find most of the ones I fancy will not work properly on the new iMacs
I'd be grateful for info about games that do work - when I looked on Amazon the comments to most games say they don't work on 10.9, even though they say mac compatible

I prefer things like MYST /Riven (yeah I know they stopped working ages ago) perhaps Assassins creed looks interesting....not too keen on SIMS or world building, prefer immersive sort of environments wth unhurried pace

Not into shoot 'em ups at all though
(tried searching for 'games' but nothing came up)

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 3.5Ghz i7, 24GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 780M

You'll have to run Snow Leopard either on a separate partition on your hard drive, or in a virtual machine, but if you want to rum Snow Leopard in a virtual machine, you'll need Snow Leopard Server.

To buy one of these operating systems, you have to call Apple, because they're not to be found in the online store.
